Storyline Fugitive Pieces
Young Jakob sees his parents murdered by Nazis in Poland during the war and his sister dragged away to an unknown fate. Rescued by a kindly Greek archaeologist working nearby, Jakob eventually winds up in Canada after the war. As an adult he becomes a successful writer, but his obsession with the past leaves him with an inability to cope with others who cannot feel the same pain. Winner of four Directors Guild of Canada awards in 2008, including Best Direction.
